HTK Safaris is your premier destination for all Hunting and Photographic Safari needs. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to create unforgettable memories with friends and family.
Hunt The Mountains Of The Eastern Cape
Hunting in these mountains is a thrill-seeker’s dream, with spot-and-stalk and scanning for movement from the mountain tops, the order of the day. Be prepared for a physical challenge, as stalking can be tough and energy-demanding, but the reward is well worth it. Proper hiking boots are a must – you’ll need them to tackle the rugged terrain. Most of your time will be spent scanning the mountain sides, waiting for the perfect shot. Expect shots to range from 200 to 400 yards- our rented rifles are well sighted-in and ready to be dialled in for different ranges, so you can focus on making the shot count.
The Eastern Cape is the perfect add-on to your Kalahari adventure, requiring just one extra travel day. We recommend a minimum of 4-night stay in the Eastern Cape, paired with a 6-night Kalahari experience. Check out our rates and packages page for two special add-on packages designed specifically for Kalahari clients. If you’re craving a change of scenery, our Eastern Cape property also offers a diverse range of Plains Game, ensuring a fresh and exciting hunting experience.
Getting here is easy – fly into Port Elizabeth and take a scenic 90-minute drive to camp. When you’re ready to head to the Kalahari, we’ll embark on a full-day drive back to the dunes or take a quick flight over to Kimberley.

The Ultimate Buffalo Hunting Experience
A typical hunting day will start early in the morning, with the crisp air filled with anticipation as we check for fresh solitary bull tracks at the waterholes. The silence is palpable, broken only by the sound of birds chirping and the rustle of leaves. When the track is good enough, we’ll gear up, load our rifles, and follow the tracks, senses on high alert. The tension builds as we move quietly through the bush, every step a calculated move, every breath a prayer. Will we find him? Will he be the one? There is only one way to find out!
South Africa is often overlooked for Buffalo hunting, but I’m here to tell you it’s a hidden gem. With HTK Safaris, you’ll experience world-class hunting in the Kalahari, with trophy quality rivalled only by the best in Africa – and at a fraction of the cost of hunting in countries like Zimbabwe, Zambia and Mozambique. My guidance, combined with the unique terrain and high Buffalo densities, make for an unbeatable combination. You’ll get the same, if not better, experience without breaking the bank. It’s time to rediscover South Africa as the premier Buffalo hunting destination.
“The supreme test of a hunter’s mettle is the Buffalo.”- Our Buffalo packages are designed for the discerning hunter seeking a true wilderness adventure, with a focus on sustainable hunting practices and conservation efforts. With HTK Safaris, you’ll experience the raw beauty and majesty of the Kalahari and create memories that will last a lifetime.
If you are ready to face the challenge of a lifetime and experience the thrill of Buffalo hunting in the Kalahari, HTK Safaris is the right place for you.
Hunting The Grey Ghost Of Africa
We’re passionate about quality over quantity, working tirelessly to track down mature males with exceptional genetics and to provide a world-class experience. Not only did I grew up in the Kalahari, I also know the terrain intimately, leveraging my expertise to get you the Kudu you’ve dreamt about. With some of the best Kudu genetics in South Africa, our hunting areas are a haven for trophy hunters and conservation-minded enthusiasts alike.
A typical hunting day will start before sunrise with a light breakfast, then head out to the open free-range area on the South African side – about a 45 to 60-minute drive. Once we are on the property, we gear up and start tracking. Early mornings and late afternoons are prime time to watch waterholes and drive the cut lines for fresh tracks. With over 50 000 Acres to cover, there’s plenty of driving involved, but the moment you spot the bull you want, everything shifts. We’ll glass the herd, position the vehicle downwind, and move in on foot with either the wind in our face or the sun at your back. When the opportunity comes, it’s quiet, focussed, and all on you. It usually takes a day or two to narrow it down, read the area, and close the distance on a mature, free-range bull. We’ll do a nice bush picnic during the warm time of day, while we glass the next cutline.
From 2027, we’re excited to offer a 2 to 3 day “old school” backpack hunt for the Grey Ghost of the Kalahari, perfect for outdoor enthusiasts seeking an immersive adventure. Imagine the thrill of stalking through the African bush, your senses heightened as you track the Grey Ghost, all while camping under the stars, and experience the raw beauty of Africa.
Our Kudu hunting experience is the ultimate challenge for discerning hunters.

Kalahari Bow Hunting Adventures
With a collection of 25 species to choose from, our Kalahari concession offer an unparalleled Bow hunting experience. The dry season reduces the number of places where the animals can get water daily, which makes sitting at waterholes a very productive technique. Our peak bowhunting season is June, July and August during the dark moon phase. This will provide every hunter with the best possible chance of being successful during your safari.
Our blinds are built to disappear into the Kalahari. Some sit over natural waterholes and mud pans; others are brushed in with raisin bush branches to blend seamlessly with the terrain. Inside you are fully concealed – no movement gives you away, and there’s enough space to draw your bow cleanly. Expect shots between 25 and 40 yards. It’s raw, close quarters bowhunting, the way it’s meant to be. We also make use of pop-up blinds to adapt to changes in wind and animal movement.
At HTK Safaris, we understand that Bow hunting is a personal experience, which is why we offer a combination of blind sitting and walk-and-stalk hunting to suit your style. If you’re more comfortable with walk-and-stalk, our guides will work with you to achieve your goals, but please note that a minimum comfortable shooting distance of 60 yards is required. This ensures a safe and enjoyable experience for all.
The unique flora of the Kalahari gives the bow hunter the perfect amount of cover, while not being too dense for spot and stalk hunting. Some stalks might only take a few minutes to get a shot opportunity, while others would take everything you have to get into position for that perfect shot.
I’m an avid Bow hunter myself and I’m always extra excited to have another Bow Hunter in camp. I never get tired of rolling up my sleeves and going the extra mile to give clients the thrill of a lifetime.
If you are an avid Bow Hunter, no other place on the planet will give you this amount of shot opportunity at game animals like the Kalahari. Expect thrilling encounters, heart-pumping action, and memories to last a lifetime.
Bring a quiver full and let the arrows fly!
